Title: Sr. DevOps Engineer

Location: Belmont, CA

Duration: 1 year (contract-to-hire possible)

You will implement and improve of software development practices, release management methodologies and software deployment strategies; optimizing and fine tuning for best 'uptime' and performance. You will actively interface with software developers, product managers, test engineers, administrators on projects and provide on-call support. You should be able to identify, troubleshoot and resolve issues quickly and effectively, sometimes under pressure. Responsibilities include capacity planning, performance tuning, and automation/tools development.

Deploy products to Dev, Test, and production environments in the cloud (AWS).

Manage all services, including github, AWS, Okta, product micro-services; building infrastructure around these to make them more consistent and less manual – more automated.

Ensure the development and production infrastructure is robust and secure. Secure processing of Personally Identifiable Information (PII) and Personal Health Information (PHI) is critical.

Build and deploy monitoring tools for systems we use for development and production.

Escalate customers' technical product issues to the engineering team for troubleshooting and resolution.

Participate in product design and development, customer training, and support as needed.

Setup tools like SaltStack, OpenStack, ELK Stack, Vault, LDAP

Setup infrastructure like AWS, HAProxy, and VPCs

Evaluate, plan, and implement new infrastructure

Work with Project Teams, Product Management, Development, and Testing teams to understand needs and investigate issues.

MUST-HAVE Skills/ Qualifications

DEVOPS Experience with configuration management and orchestration tools (Terraform, Ansible, Chef, SaltStack, Vagrant, AWS CloudFormation).

LINUX

APPLICATION SERVER Experience configuring and troubleshooting web servers, proxies, and load balancers like node.js, nginx, HAProxy, ELB.

SITE MONITORING

CYBER SECURITY Experience working with security technologies and tools (SAST, DAST, Dome9, Qualys, Arachni).

Experience working with dynamic development teams in an agile environment.

Ability to translate product requirements into robust and secure Infrastructure implementations.

Bachelor���s degree required

We are actively looking for technical writers to fill immediate assignments for onsite full time work in Cupertino, Mountain View, Sunnyvale, and other venues around the Valley.

Responsibilities and Duties

As a technical writer assigned to work on-site with our client's engineering team, you will develop and release technical documentation and education programs that help our client's engineers become more productive and knowledgeable. You will work closely with world-class software developers and internal software engineering education teams to help define and build next-generation technical documentation, education programs, and tools.

Qualifications and Skills

You must have demonstrable experience creating API documentation and other hard-core technical documents for software developers. Your resume must include:

• 3+ years of experience working effectively with engineering and product management teams as part of a modern software development process (Unix, GIT, JIRA) to produce technical documents or course materials

• Experience reading and understanding source code written in Java, C++, and Python (you must be able to understand written code, and ideally, write new code samples)

• Ability to navigate a complex technical landscape and interact with multiple engineers to assemble classes and documentation

• BA/BS degree in Technical Writing, English, Journalism, Computer Science, or a related field

• Strong familiarity with HTML and CSS and Markdown

• Strong collaboration and project management skills

• 3-5 portfolio examples that demonstrate the above qualifications

• Ability to commute daily to work assignments in Mountain View, Sunnyvale, Cupertino, and other Silicon Valley communities

• Authorized to work in the United States, and able to pass a background check

Principal Software Engineer

Location: San Jose, CA

Duration: 6 months, contract to hire

Analyzes, designs, programs, debugs, and modifies software enhancements and/or new products used in local, networked, cloud-based or Internet-related computer programs. Code may be used in commercial or end-user applications, such as materials management, financial management, HRIS, mobile apps or desktop applications products. Using current programming language and technologies, writes code, completes programming, and performs testing and debugging of applications. Completes documentation and procedures for installation and maintenance. May interact with users to define system requirements and/or necessary modifications.

Principal Software Engineer will devote substantially all of your professional efforts in support of R&D and lab software development activities but may also participate in other corporate matters.

Responsibilities Include:

Maintaining and enhancing custom laboratory information management systems (LIMS) software primarily written in Java and C# to track process data and workflow queues.

Maintaining and enhancing database SQL required to support LIMS functionality and other database centric applications used at the company.

Developing new software/systems to support delivery of data to customers, R&D personnel and enterprise resource management systems using a variety of web-based programming tools.

Supporting end-users in a 24/7 production environment as needed.

Such other matters as may be determined by yourself and the company.

MUST-HAVE Qualifications and Skills:

* 10+ years of work experience in writing Windows-based software applications involving a graphical user interface and complex sets of business requirements and rules.

* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or Life Sciences.

* Ability to clearly communicate within the team and across business functions.

* Drive to ensure software meets requirements.

* Comfortable with a fast paced development schedule,

* Demonstrated competency using object oriented software development tools, and

* Experience with relational database systems and knowledge of SQL.

* Experience developing in C# required. (not a .NET web application developer)

* Experience developing software for liquid handling robots preferred.

* Understanding of laboratory processes and workflow systems is a plus

We are looking for candidates with a deep understanding of modern SaaS architecture and experience across the full stack with a "create tools not band-aids" mindset. The Position: You will join a team of 10+ engineers in crafting solutions to some of the most complex data plumbing problems in the world In diagnostics today, there are 18 Billion data points generated in systems that are not only inaccessible, but were never designed to talk to each other. You will be helping create enterprise-scale software systems to tackle the fragmentation of this data. You will be up close and personal with all the usual things, like design conception, design reviews for components or features, development and testing of the core software stack.

Software Development: This is a hands-on you're writing high quality code for software that will perform at scale, be supportable, and be extensible, kind of role.

Process & Operations: Ensuring the software stack integrates with our existing CI pipeline and contributing to continuous improvements; independently design, plan and deliver high quality software.

Leadership: Ensuring we amplify our culture. Embody our value for technical excellence, integrity and support and compassion for individuals.

MUST-HAVE Qualifications:

*8 - 10 years of hands on experience in large scale production coding. Remember, there are lives at the other end of our code, so it is all about quality of code

*Commitment to agile practice, and scalable architecture.

*Have successfully built, deployed, and supported an enterprise-scale web application in the cloud

*Hands-on software development expertise in Java and Javascript with a modern MVC framework (& including Spring, Hibernate, Swing, Web Services, multi-threading, REST)

*Ability to understand complex workflows and develop and validate innovative solutions to solve difficult problems

*B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in computer science, web technologies, or equivalent field.

*Experience in healthcare is not required, but familiarity or interest in the monstrosity that is healthcare data and workflows is a plus (e.g. HL7, IHE)

*Exp with AWS and micro-services

Preferred: full-stack experience, with expertise in at least one layer
