We are figuring out how smartphones (iPhone, Android, BlackBerry, Windows Phone and Symbian) can replace laptops as the primary personal computing platform for the enterprise. We are actively looking for a Senior Software Architect to help build our next generation platform. We are funded by Sequoia Capital, Norwest Venture Partners, and Storm Ventures. Responsibilities
Design and develop highly scalable, reliable, extensible and maintainable applications and platforms while balancing resources, constraints, requirements, and complexity
Translate business needs into technology solutions and roadmaps.
Work closely with product management and engineering teams to define product strategy
Drive technical designs to consensus and approval across a cross-functional organization
Evangelize technologies, solutions, and best practices
Mentor product, engineering and architecture teams on architecture topics
Ability to zoom in while working with engineers and at the same time zoom out to communicate effectively with executives
Requirements
Expert in software architecture principles
Expert in Internet systems design and standards
Demonstrated technical leadership in technologies that are core to large, high scale websites, cloud computing, web services, multi-tier server architectures, and variety of presentation mechanisms
Expert in programming languages, especially Java and C++
Experience designing DB schema keeping performance in mind
Strong real-world experience with Oracle, MySQL, or SQL Server
In-depth experience with database interaction (Hibernate, Liquibase, etc.)
Experience with Web Technologies (Apache, AJAX, HTML, JavaScript, HTTP, SOAP, XML)
Excellent problem solving, critical thinking, and communication skills.
Familiarity with Unix/Linux
