Pre-Sales Engineer

Title: Pre-Sales Systems Engineer (SE)

Availability: Immediate

Role Overview:

This Systems Engineer role will be focused on supporting the sales process with medium and large-sized new business accounts with a predominant focus on the markets of Financial Services, Spread Betting/e-Gaming, Telecommunications and Social Media. A working knowledge of the Cloud Computing and the Mobility markets would also be a benefit. The Systems Engineer will provide technical support in all aspects of the pre-sales process, including sales/product presentations, product positioning, product demonstrations and customer product testing and evaluation.

The successful candidate will be a self-sufficient driver; they will run with initiatives and be comfortable controlling meetings as soon as they enter a room. They will have a thorough understanding of the enterprise sales cycles and the technology needs of enterprise customers. The ideal candidate will possess consultative skills, the innate ability to articulate the technology at a business or project specific level, equate its value in terms that are relevant to the customer/prospect, and build close trusting relationships in all professional and social settings.

Job Requirements:

A proven track record of enterprise pre-sales technical support (10+ years) in the software industry, including strong experience in a software startup environment. An understanding of current IT concepts, solutions & environments, architectures and especially enterprise infrastructure software and solutions in the Financial Services sector is essential, with emphasis on Web solutions.

Experienced at providing product evaluation support, product installation, application prototyping and benchmarks. Knowledge and experience of managing customer projects including scoping, expectation setting, requirements gathering, customer sign off, general project planning, and customer success/failure reports. Expertise in building proof-of-concept applications based on customer requirements to demonstrate the feasibility of an application, often requiring rapid prototyping, on-site integration and detailed competitive evaluation. Ability to liaise with HQ engineering teams to resolve technical issues, and to step in to assist with post sales support training, problem diagnosis, escalation and resolution where required.

Candidates should have expertise in working with complex Web environments and real time solutions, an understanding of the Rich Internet Applications solution space, push/streaming technologies and real-time Web industry issues and enabling technologies. Experience of working with Flash, Silverlight, Java, and JavaScript is preferred, and also a strong understanding of large-scale systems deployment including hands on tuning and customer integration. Experience with the following 3rd party solutions would be beneficial: TIBCO RV/EMS, Oracle Application Server, BEA WebLogic, IBM WebSphere, 29West, Solace, AMQP vendors.

Bachelors degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering required (MBA preferred).

Travel will be required up to 50%, with occasional travel to the Kaazing HQ in California.
