Job Title: IP Telephony Engineer
General Description
The Senior IP Telephony Engineer positions primary role is to develop and maintain IPT standards and architecture, develop automation for implementation of the standards, provide new features and solutions for IPT, document new technologies and features, and provide tiered support to operations and the delivery teams. Position requires expert level skills related to the engineering and architecture of Cisco IPT solutions and knowledge of traditional telephony technologies.
The qualified candidate should have a proven track record of engineering and implementing global Cisco IP Telephony solutions based solutions, creating and documenting standards for the IPT solution, testing and documenting new features or technologies, and providing tiered support.
The essential functions include but are limited to:
- Gathering business requirements and translating them to engineering designs for the IP Telephony environment.
Capacity planning users in a call manager cluster environment.
- Provide IPT engineering, IPT architecture, and standard device configurations, organize and maintain internal IPT website.
- Identify and analyze business drivers and requirements to derive infrastructure design requirements.
- Test new IPT technologies.
- Implement IPT technologies in the production environment.
- Must be willing to work outside normal business hours, including weekends and nights when necessary.
- Ability to function in a collaborative environment.
- Provide weekly status reports to management, participate in communication architecture boards, be an active team member.
- Escalation support for Telecom Operations team.
Work experience requirements:-
- 4 year college degree (BA or BS) or equivalent foreign degree in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering or related field
- Expert knowledge of the following technologies: Cisco Call Manager, SIP, E911, Voice Gateways, QoS, WAN circuits (T-1/E-1, T-3/E-3, OC-X). Professional level knowledge of routing protocols, LAN switching, Ethernet (10/100, Gigabit, 10 Gigabit), and security.
- Experience with Cisco Call Manager 6.x, 7.x, and/or 8.x with 8.x preferred.
- Experience with Cisco Unity Connection.
- CCVP or similar experience, CCIE Voice preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to design, document, build, and troubleshoot large scale IPT environments.
- Familiar with the principals related to secure network design practices
- Strong oral and written communications skills
- In-depth knowledge of packet capturing for baseline analysis and trouble-shooting network anomalies
- Strong verbal and excellent written communications skills, technology leadership, training and mentoring skills, and exhibit team oriented approach.
