Responsibilities/Unique Conditions:
• Significant experience working with clients to identify and understand requirements driven by both technical and workflow constraints. • Expertise with hardware and software on High Performance Computing Systems (Unix, Linux). • Knowledge of system interoperability with Raid or other Storage, Networks (Ethernet and Infiniband) Servers, and other system type attachments. • Significant experience with configuration, troubleshooting and maintenance of Lustre filesystems • High level of problem isolation and identification skills. • Expected to work after hours and weekends when necessary. • Assist with code development, porting, debugging and optimization. • Comfortable in the development of scripts for users and 3rd party software applications. • Experience monitoring of system performance and recommending system tuning ideas such as upgrading compilers, OS, changing system parameters, etc. • Knowledge of some or all of the following: FORTRAN, Python,C and C++, OpenMP, MPI, PBS, graph theory and Performance Co-pilot. • Comfortable with system installation/setup, upgrades, configuration changes, and field change orders. • Comfortable onsite delivery of solutions and problem identification and resolution through both hands-on hardware integration and software skills. Utilizes system tools, diagnostics, online databases, and technical documentation to expedite solution delivery. • Excellent communication and customer relation skills Team with sales by keeping them informed of account activity/escalations, assisting in equipment proposals and account planning sessions as appropriate.
* Position is located on site at NASA Ames in Mountain View, CA.
Education and/or Equivalent Experience (including tech. and non-tech. capabilities):
• BS/MS degree in Computer Science or Engineering related field or equivalent experience. • 7-10 years minimum experience in Computer Technology preferably in a High Performance Computing(HPC)environment. • Working knowledge of Lustre Filesystems, UNIX, and LINUX. • Experience with tape management, large, high performance storage and Hierarchical Storage Management Systems a plus. • Candidate must be a US citizen.
