Job Description:
Work with a multidisciplinary team developing state-of-the-art separation and sample-handling systems. You will design parts for next generation micro-analytical devices and instruments for applications in life sciences and chemical analysis. This work will include miniature liquid thermal control systems, micro-to-macro fluidic interfacing, fluid handling, and mechanics for liquid chromatography, mass spectrometry, and other systems. This position requires a candidate with exceptional design ability and problem-solving skills that can quickly adapt to the demands of a rapidly developing, multifaceted project.
Responsibilities:
- Design & develop precision 0 to 100°C temperature control hardware for a miniature fluidic system.
- Work with other engineers and researchers to translate system requirements into an engineered solution.
- Support designed parts through fabrication.
- Work directly with machine shops and other outside vendors in design and fabrication process.
- Install and debug parts, devices, and systems that you design.
- Source parts, vendors, purchases, and other needs as necessary.
Qualifications:
- BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- 5+ years of relevant experience in mechanical design
- Experience in designing and implementing liquid thermal control systems.
- Proficient use of 3D CAD program(s)
- Proficiency in creation of detail drawings for machined parts and precision alignment
- Demonstrated history of creativity in solutions to complex problems
The following additional skills are highly desired:
- Experience with Co Create Modeling or Solid Works
