Job Description:
* Participate in design reviews and new product qualification activities for GPS products to ensure customer specified quality and reliability requirements are met.
* Provide Process/Quality Engineering support to product development teams, helping to ensure development of highest quality new products.
* Provide Process/Quality Engineering support to manufacturing, helping to ensure delivery of highest quality product to the customer.
* Analyze product-related quality and performance data and apply statistical methods to proactively identify product quality issues and trends.
* Perform root cause analysis on field failures, prepare reports for our customers related to the findings, and identify opportunities for product and process improvement.
* Work primarily with all functional teams to continuously drive business processes efficiency and effectiveness, and identify and leading quality improvement programs.
* Drive corrective and preventative action to ensure continual improvement. Proactively improve products and processes by applying APQP, PPAP, and Six Sigma methodologies.
* Support the coordinated integration of new products into Manufacturing/Operations.
* Provides critical analysis of processes utilizing techniques such as Cp, CpK, and Gage R&R studies.
* Develop, maintain, and provide quality metrics s required as a means to facilitate positive proactive change.
* Manage other projects as assigned. Provide imaginative, thorough and practical solutions to a wide range of technical problems through the application of quality engineering disciplines and tools.
* Assist QA manager in the development, implementation and maintenance of the company's quality management systems and continuous improvement programs.
* Routinely report to management on the health of Topcon processes and products

Experience:
* Strong analytical skills with a working knowledge of statistical methods and the use of standard quality tools (e.g. flowcharts, Pareto charts, cause and effect diagrams, control charts, scatter diagrams, regression analysis, affinity diagrams, etc).
* Experience with defining, interpreting and classifying quality characteristics for new products and processes.
* Knowledge of Quality techniques including statistical methods used to analyze and control process variations, capability studies, PFMEA, APQP, PPAP, and Six Sigma.
* Proficient in problem solving tools (8D methodology, 5 Whys, Ishikawa, SPC / Cpk, etc.) to facilitate continuous improvement activities that favorably impact external and internal customer satisfaction (DPPM, Warranty, Scrap, First Pass Yield, etc.)
* A working knowledge of Measurement System Analysis (MSA) (i.e., Calculate, analyze, and interpret repeatability reproducibility (Gage R&R) studies, measurement correlation, capability, bias, linearity, etc.)
* Good knowledge of ISO standards (9001, 14001)
* Must be able to analyze and distill problems down to the root cause through effective communication, both internally and externally.
* Must have strong leadership skills and be experienced in leading teams.

Education:
* Bachelor´s degree (B. S.) in a technical field (Science or Engineering) or five to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
* Engineering or manufacturing background is highly desirable.
