Our client is a hot new mobile start-up in Palo Alto and is looking for strong Java Server Side Engineers. The team includes industry veterans from Google, Nokia and Yahoo. They are currently operating in stealth mode and are looking to expand their team.
This is a full time permanent opportunity with great salary and benefits. Visa sponsorship is available for the right candidates.
Responsibilities
Build THE next-generation Mobile Location Based platform.
Design & implement systems that manipulate large (very large) data sets
Extract insights into user behavior.
Note: This is NOT a frontend web server engineer position.
Desired Skills & Experience
Passionate about the cloud component of mobile apps and location-based services.
M.Sc. or B.S. in Computer Science or Engineering from a top tier college or university required (Ph.D. is a plus).
Research in the area of machine learning or data mining is highly desirable.
Hands on experience with server-side Java is required.
Hands on experience with MySQL and/or Cassandra is required.
Hands on experience with Hadoop, R and/or PIG is highly desirable.
A minimum of 5+ years of software development experience building commercial grade systems.
At least 2 years at a startup or a fast growing company employing agile development processes.
Proven track record of developing robust systems that solve real life problems in a scalable, production setting.
Excellent backend programming skills in Java , Python, and/or Scala including deep exposure to data processing, storage, and manipulation tools and techniques.
Experience with designing and deploying large scale distributed data processing systems.
Strong analytical and communication skills.
Affinity for the customer.
Entrepreneurial, be able to think out of the box and thrive in a startup atmosphere.
