MindSource specializes in placing technology professionals with companies in the Silicon Valley Region. Our client in Palo Alto, CA is looking for an exceptional Application DBA to help maintain optimal performance of database environment. This is a FULL TIME position with excellent salary and great benefits. The manager is also open for a contract to hire arrangement.
In this role you will design, implement and maintain MySQL databases for performance, reliability and scalability. Responsibilities include database tuning and configuration, building tools/scripts to assist in diagnostics and the automation of our systems. You will be tasked with proposing test plans, improving existing backup and recovery methods, capacity planning, and interfacing with external groups, developers and application owners to arrive at optimal solutions.
Position Requirements:
A minimum of 5+ years professional experience with Database Administration for MySQL Server.
Strong programming skills (Bash, Ruby, Python)
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Experience with indexes, index management, and statistics.
Experience in Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO), using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
Knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options
Experience with version control systems (SVN/CVS)
Preferred Skills:
Excellent ETL knowledge and experience
Experience with open source configuration management (Puppet, Chef)
Experience with system monitoring tools (Nagios/Cacti)
Experience with non-RDBMS (MongoDB, Cassandra, CouchDB)
Experience with distributed computing technologies (Hadoop/HPCC)
