Job Description:
In this role you will be responsible for the synthesis, isolation, purification, and analysis of synthetic oligonucleotides. Key responsibilities will include the preparation and purification of synthetic RNA and chemically modified synthetic RNA using automated solid-phase synthesis techniques. You will be responsible for ordering, maintaining, and monitoring an inventory of chemical reagents, as well as maintenance and monitoring of the hardware components used for the synthesis, purification and analysis of the RNA products. You will be expected to help develop and optimize synthetic protocols and purification protocols, and be able to organize the data generated into clear and easy to read reports.
Job Qualifications:
1. BS/BA or MS/MA in Chemistry or Biochemistry, or equivalent.
2. 2+ years experience in solid-phase oligonucleotide synthesis.
3. Experience performing HPLC analysis.
4. Computer literacy including proficiency with Word and Excel.
5. Ability to work independently to execute and troubleshoot new methods.
6. Excellent time management, teamwork and communication skills.
The following additional skills/experiences are highly desired:
1. Laboratory experience in support of synthetic organic chemistry research or development projects.
2. Experience in the evaluation, characterization, and purification of oligonucleotides via HPLC and polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis.
3. Experience with anhydrous chemical laboratory techniques.
4. Experience in a broad range of affinity chromatography techniques.
5. Hands-on experience with RNA.
6. Experience with NMR, and Mass Spectrometry.
Research a must, not just working in a production lab. Must have hands and productivity experience. Person will need to help in developing new protocol, be able to think on their feet and outside the box, solve the problem. Will be characterizing RNA and DNA.
