At Streetline, we are realizing the promise of sensor networks to revolutionize how cities are run. Streetline deploys Cloud-based SaaS solutions with robust sensing using mesh sensor networks to measure parking and traffic trends, manage city assets, and direct drivers to available parking spots in real-time through mobile devices on the iPhone and Android platforms.
We are looking for a Linux Systems Administrator to help build and manage our next-generation cloud-based RoR platform as well as help manage the data side of our embedded sensor network.
Essential Job Duties:
Handles day-to-day system administration duties on an as needed and on-call basis.
Design solutions related to Linux server security, capacity planning, and build-out of high availability infrastructure
Installs, sets up and configures new hardware, software and applications.
Automate build/deployment and common systems-related tasks
Improves server performance, availability and security
Implements new server monitoring and tuning technologies
Maintains formal documentation of managed systems and networks.
Requirements:
5+ years of *nix Systems Administration experience 2 of which should be with some flavor of
Linux (we´re currently an Ubuntu shop)
5+ years of scripting experience (Ruby, Perl, Python, etc.)
1+ years MySQL administration experience
Solid understanding of TCP/IP and networking principles
Solid understanding of Internet-focused security best practices and system/network hardening
Experience building/managing 24x7/high-availability customer-facing platforms (Cloud-based highly desirable)
Strong automation mindset
Self-starter and fast learner
Wiling to be on-call as necessary
Team player
