The Senior Software Engineer, Applications, is responsible for the design, development and implementation of Streetline´s Enterprise and Consumer-facing applications. Streetline´s systems span embedded sensor hardware, mesh networking, and signal processing all the way up to Cloud-based SaaS/web and mobile user applications -- this position calls for very strong applications thinking, technical breadth and creative innovations well beyond the typical web or desktop applications.
Requirements:
• Developed usable, responsive applications in Ruby on Rails or other robust platforms that are recognized best in class.
• Proficiency in HTML/JavaScript/CSS/JQuery/AJax
• Experience with UI frameworks (such as RoR and a broad set of Ruby tools and gems) is desired as well as knowledge of mapping tools and services such as Google Maps.
• A track record of solid UI design and software development in RoR or other languages should be clearly evident.
• Strong fundamentals in data structures and object-oriented design
• Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and management to collect requirements, describe software product features, and technical designs.
• Ability to take a project from scoping requirements through actual launch of the project.
Preferred areas of knowledge and experience:
• A demonstrated knowledge of BI tools such as Cognos Business Objects or open-source BI tools and other analytics and charting tools is a plus.
• Proficiency in at least one programming language such as C, C++, Java, PERL or Python
• MySQL and Linux experience are also desirable for this role.
Preferred Experience/Education:
• At least 5+ years of experience in software development
• Bachelor´s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent
