We´re well-funded (Sutter Hill Ventures, Fontinalis, and RockPort Capital) with major partners/resellers (including IBM and Siemens.) Streetline solutions are now deployed or deploying in over 16 cities including Boston, NYC, Washington, DC area, Ft. Worth, Indianapolis, Salt Lake City, Los Angeles, and others. The Senior Software Engineer, Applications, is responsible for the design, development and implementation of Streetline´s Enterprise and Consumer-facing applications. Streetline´s systems span embedded sensor hardware, mesh networking, and signal processing all the way up to Cloud-based SaaS/web and mobile user applications -- this position calls for very strong applications thinking, technical breadth and creative innovations well beyond the typical web or desktop applications.

Requirements:
• Developed usable, responsive applications in Ruby on Rails or other robust platforms that are recognized best in class.
• Proficiency in HTML/JavaScript/CSS/JQuery/AJax
• Experience with UI frameworks (such as RoR and a broad set of Ruby tools and gems) is desired as well as knowledge of mapping tools and services such as Google Maps.
• A track record of solid UI design and software development in RoR or other languages should be clearly evident.
• Strong fundamentals in data structures and object-oriented design
• Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and management to collect requirements, describe software product features, and technical designs.
• Ability to take a project from scoping requirements through actual launch of the project.

Preferred areas of knowledge and experience:
• A demonstrated knowledge of BI tools such as Cognos Business Objects or open-source BI tools and other analytics and charting tools is a plus.
• Proficiency in at least one programming language such as C, C++, Java, PERL or Python
• MySQL and Linux experience are also desirable for this role.

Preferred Experience/Education:
• At least 5+ years of experience in software development
• Bachelor´s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent
