We are a hardware startup made up of key engineers from Apple. We are looking for strong, full-time engineers to start immediately and help launch our first consumer product.

Supplier Quality Engineer (Mechanical Engineer)

The Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) is responsible for managing and verifying supplier quality standards and performance in accordance the requirements. The SQE has ownership of supplier quality performance and measurements including KPI's and participation in supplier performance reviews. The SQE will investigate, analyze and resolve supplier quality problems by conducting audits, analyzing defect trends and leading continuous improvement projects. They are in charge of performing regular supplier quality audits to ensure compliance with workmanship standards, to suggest quality and process improvements and collaborate with the engineering team and manufacturing partners.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Assess supplier production control and quality programs, identify shortfalls to expectations, and directly secure agreement to correct

• Review Product Quality Plans (PQP) with suppliers and other functional groups to optimize supplier quality programs

• Evaluate supplier readiness and adherence to PQP at all development and qualification stages

• Establish specific short and long term supplier quality goals

• Monitor each supplier's performance through measurement of production line statistics, KPI's, company inspections, and audits. Prepare summary of performance and communicate to appropriate team members

• Responsible for accuracy and integrity of supplier data that ensures compliance with documented procedures and processes

• Conduct supplier audits to drive process standardization, scrap elimination and continuous improvement

• Drive closed loop corrective action (CLCA) process to analyze failure data collected from field returns, manufacturing yields and ORT testing and drive corrective actions at the root cause to ensure continuity of supply

• Support Engineering in the evaluation and qualification of new suppliers and materials

• Apply solid understanding of quality control and manufacturing concepts to oversee the development of specific PQP's appropriate to program and commodity

• Drive corrective actions cross-functionally with internal and external team members

• Develop and implement quality inspection tools

Key Qualifications/Experience Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Sciences field

• 5 years+ experience in developing quality plans, supplier quality management and driving corrective actions and failure analysis

• Knowledge of quality and reliability concepts, supplier management, and general manufacturing operations

• Project management experience, communication and teamwork skills with a solid understanding of problem solving processes, root cause analysis and statistical process control principles

• Experience with mechanical enclosures, castings, plastic parts, injection molding, tooling, jigs, fixtures, or high volume quality manufacturing engineering

• Ability to operate in a dynamic, fast paced environment with minimal supervision

• International travel required in support of business needs
