ZOLL has an open position for a Principal Mechanical Engineer, in its San Jose Division. The Principal Mechanical Engineer is a member of the Research and Development group and the position reports to the Sr. Manager, Product Engineering. The position is responsible for:
•Providing technical leadership in the mechanical design and development of medical devices and associated equipment.
•Providing project leadership to ensure the design output aligns with project objectives.
•Facilitating department and cross-functional design reviews.
•Using 3D CAD to create and/or maintain mechanical designs.
•Establishing and maintaining departmental best practices for design and documentation.
•Performing component and product testing, troubleshooting and failure analysis.
•Writing appropriate verification test protocols and reports for an FDA/ISO regulated environment.
•Working with manufacturing engineers to develop assembly and work instructions.
Desired Skills Experience
•BS Degree (MS preferred) in mechanical engineering or an equivalent field
•Minimum of 12 years experience in mechanical design of medical equipment
•Leadership experience in a medical device development setting
•Strong cross-functional project management experience
•Mechanical design experience using processes including injection molding, pressure forming, RIM, overmolding, extrusion, sheet metal, weldments, traditional machining, SLA, SLS, FDM
•3D CAD (SolidWorks)
•Failure analysis and troubleshooting skills
•Extensive experience in FDA/ISO regulated medical device development
