Join our talented team of Software Engineers in building the infrastructure framework for the next generation of our flagship product the Navis™ terminal operating system (TOS). We are a mature, profitable logistics software company operating worldwide. We build mission critical systems which enable the world economy. Most of the material goods in the world are moved in containers through our software at some point in time. The terminal operating system combines live production experience at more than 170 marine terminals in 50 countries with state-of-the-art software design.

We are a mature profitable logistics software company located waterside in historic Jack London Square accessible by ferry, BART, and Amtrak. We have built more than 8 different logistics application on the framework including our flagship product using the latest JEE and open source software technology. We are looking for an energetic, self-motivated, high quality Senior Software Engineer. This position has unique opportunities for growth in both the functional and technical direction.

We are looking for a strong problem solver who is interested in working on all aspects and tiers of our technology stack, both front end and back end. If you like engineering and solving complex problems as well as learning new technologies this is the position for you.

Responsibilities

You will be part of our framework development team. Your responsibilities will be to:

• Research and prototype new technologies

• Design and code new functionality

• Practice test driven development

• Train and support application engineers in using the framework features

• Take end-to-end ownership of your part of the functionality

Requirements

• Strong knowledge of the Java programming language

• Proven ability to develop software including strong object oriented development skills

• Strong knowledge of the Gang of Four design patterns

• MS in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other technical field

• Qualified candidates need to be flexible and willing to work in a fast-paced environment

• Some knowledge of relational database management systems such as MySQL, SQL-Server, Oracle

• Ability to work independently, managed by objectives

• Effective time management skills and excellent communication skills

Optional Requirements

• Experience with UI technologies such as Swing, ULC , Zk, GWT or other

• Experience with Web development including HTML, Javascript, CSS, Ajax etc

• Experience with Android or Apple mobile development

• Experience with one or more of the following Application Servers: Tomcat, JBoss, WebLogic

• Knowledge of the broader Java and JEE stack (e.g. JDBC, JMX, JPA, JMS) including

o O/R mapping tools such as Hibernate

o Open source frameworks such as Spring

o IDEs such as IntelliJ or Eclipse

o Unit tests and continuous integration techniques including the use of JUnit for developing automated unit tests

Additional Information

• Some international travel to customers and other offices may be required
