RiskIQ protects corporate brands and their customers on the internet. The company combines a worldwide proxy network with synthetic clients that emulate users to monitor, detect and take down malicious and copycat apps, drive by malware and malvertisements. RiskIQ is being used by leading financial institutions and brands in the US to protect their web assets and users from security threats and fraud. We are in San Francisco, backed by growth equity firms Summit Partners and Battery Ventures.

This position will be assisting the newly formed Research group at RiskIQ. In this role you will be assisting the research team in providing new tools (developed in Python) to extract actionable threat intelligence from our existing data as well as assist in the design and implementation of new tools. Our Engineering team is at the core of advancing the technologies that define the next generation of our Internet, advertising, and mobile security products. As a Python Developer at RiskIQ, you will play a critical role in executing our overall strategy and vision for these product initiatives.

We're looking for employees who are capable of learning and can figure things out for themselves. Mentorship is available, but you will often be on your own. Self-motivated, organized, independent - these are key descriptors that you should ascribe to yourself.

We prize prior experience in our domain: Internet Security and strong scripting abilities in Python programming. That said, raw talent trumps experience: if you can demonstrate the ability and aptitude, we'll consider you.

We need curious and creative problem solvers. The journey to the solution is often more important than the solution itself.

We expect excellent verbal and written communication skills. Miscommunication can be just as costly as poor design decisions.

Having prior work experience in a startup or similar environment.

You must possess a team-centric approach to delivery.

Your responsibilities will include

Analyzing at malicious browser extensions and figuring out how they work, gathering indicators that we can alert on in the future.

Tracking and gathering intelligence on bad actors and their infrastructure.

Working with senior members of the research team to write rules to further our detection capabilities.

Work with research developers and engineers to implement new tools where required.

Find improvements and new use cases for our customers to use our platform.

Validate threat feeds to ensure that there are minimal false positives.

Present findings of investigations to senior leadership, sales executives and customers.

Determining feasibility and developing proof of concept code based on ideas that are produced from the research team.

Designing and building security analysis tools for the research team.

Working on creating new ways to pull interesting information from existing research analysis.

Analyzing, designing, developing, and testing of your projects to meet deadlines and exacting standards.

Partnering with our Engineering team to implement successful research products into the RiskIQ platform.

Mentoring junior team members, with a focus on technical rigor.

Developing analysis tools that may be released as open source projects.

Requirements

Ability to learn new things at a rapid pace.

3-5 years of experience programming with Python is required.

Significant experience in one or more of the following:

Network Security

HTML/Web programming

Unix/Linux Environments

SQL, particularly with MySQL or Postgres

Network Programming

Android/iOS development

Experience in at least one of the following languages would be a plus:

C++

Python

HTML/Javascript
