Senior Analyst – Product Configuration
Alameda, CA
General Summary of Position:
Responsible for maintenance of documents required for the release of products from engineering to manufacturing during Release To Manufacturing (RTM) to First Customer Shipment (FCS). Assigns, creates, and monitors part, product, procedure and document numbers. Responsible for setting up product definition and product structure in Oracle data base. Enters and maintains product codes and part numbers and bills of material on Oracle Applications system using Excel custom data entry assist program, and internal product release systems. Interfaces with Release Management, Production Control, Material Planning, Marketing, R&D, IT and Technical Publications to obtain and provide required information, documents and reports.
Major Responsibilities:
Attend cross-functional product release meetings
Compile and prepare spreadsheets for mass load to Oracle
Implementation of new element into product release process
Conduct pilot "box-opening" sessions
Process products through status cycles on Oracle corresponding with Product Release Life Cycle (PRLC), and Product Life Cycle (PLC) states
Execute product End-Of-Life (EOL), and work with Planning to clear EOL inventory
Provide support to internal users regarding BOMs and Oracle item attributes, provide reports from Oracle as needed
Introduction of new packaging and delivery method requirements
Interface with Planning/vendor for hand-off of masters
Participate in mass data conversion projects
Participate in assigned projects associating with product fulfillment cycle
Secondary Responsibilities:
Prepare test cases and analyze test results for cross-functional process changes or major product releases
Aid in the design of reports, forms, interfaces and conversions
Maintain and monitor software media archive
Produce and publish status reports, custom Oracle Discoverer reports and product release schedules
Provide extended support coverage during business quarter ends
Maintain department web page
Manufacture custom software media, and maintains the media manufacturing equipment and supplies
May be assigned special projects including historical data or mass changes of BOMs or packaging
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
Demonstrates application of knowledge and skill in multiple or complex projects
Thorough knowledge of Oracle item attributes, bills of material, and multi-organizational setup
Capable of developing, implementing and maintaining product release procedures and policies
Very good written and verbal communication skills, good presentation skills
Strong interpersonal and troubleshooting skills
Basic knowledge of UNIX Operating System
Familiarity with Agile product development processes
5-7 years relevant Operations experience, 4-year degree or equivalent
