You're a hard-working and driven full stack developer with a veritable passion for building and continually refining progressive website experiences. You get excited about software design and diligently keep on top of the latest trends in functional web design. You have a thorough understanding of concepts like responsive and future-friendly web design. The Full Stack Developer will be responsible for building, maintaining and optimizing our ecommerce website experience. This position requires strong grasp of Ruby on Rails programming language, as well as JavaScript/JQuery. This role will be part of a small core team that is responsible for the overall performance of the business. We are a results-oriented team that is strives for measurement-led iterative improvements. We embrace testing and this role will help to plan and execute a multitude of A/B tests.
Responsibilities
Maintain and optimize various pages across our ecommerce site including product pages, checkout flow and marketing pages.
Routinely collaborate and partner with our other front-end developer to drive completion of planned release cycles.
Helping to continually devise implement A/B tests to optimize overall web conversion.
Actively contributing to the overall design and architecture.
Analyzing and diagnosing any issues that may impact performance of ecommerce platform.
Facilitate order fulfillment from online all the way to shipping
Ensure SEO-friendly design and optimal page speed.
Independently designing, coding, and testing major features and delivering complex changes.
Routinely work with stakeholders to collect feedback on planned site improvements help work through backlog of planned initiatives.
Qualifications
· 2-5+ years relevant experience as a backend-end developer, preferably with an ecommerce company
· Sound expertise with Ruby on Rails, JavaScript/JQuery
· Solid grasp of MySQL and familiarity with database/model design
· Knowledge of SOAP and REST API protocols for integrating with legacy/enterprise services
· Experience working with Spree commerce platform an asset
· Experience in developing APIs a strong asset as is experience with website scaling
· Understanding of ecommerce buyflows, and integration with CS and CRM systems
· Expertise in performance optimization using tools such as YSlow or PageSpeed
· Testing and optimization mindset, and experience with tools such as Optimizely
· Ample experience navigating Photoshop and saving images for the web
· Contributions to OpenSource projects on GitHub a plus
· A firm grasp of SEO best practices
· Familiarity with browser testing and debugging
· Great attitude; able to work in a very dynamic environment
· Experience with Salesforce is desired
