[KITlist-Tech] Hardware Lab Technician (San Francisco, California)

August is seeking a Hardware Lab Technician to work closely with our hardware and mechanical engineers on prototyping, testing and research of August's products. The ideal candidate will be passionate about electronics and mechanical systems, organized, creative in finding solutions and knows how to take things apart, make them work and put them back together.

Responsibilities

- Provide hands-on technical support of the hardware development and verification for both new and existing products
- Work cross functionally on new product builds, rework, and prototype development
- Rework and modify boards with components down to 0402
- Design support by performing schematic capture and / or PCB layout
- Build jigs and fixtures for mechanical testing and automated test
- Assemble, debug and repair prototype devices
- Acquire and maintain lab equipment, supplies, tools and components
- Manage prototypes and small production run inventory and maintenance
- Preparing test samples and experimental setups of products or components

Requirements

- 5+ years experience as a lab technician or engineering support environment
- 2+ years experience in consumer electronics
- Understanding of development best practices in development, sustaining and verification for
both mechanical and electrical disciplines
- Capability to implement complex test instructions and equipment operation procedures,
written and verbal
- Hands-on experience to diagnose and replace components in systems, rework, soldering,
product debug and prototyping
- Ability to execute detailed and repetitive test operations
- Experience with inventory tracking, keeping hardware components and tool organized and
maintaining an inventory of components for engineering design and debug
- Technical vocational school

Even better

- Have setup and managed a hardware engineering lab
- Knowledge and experience with schematic entry and layout tools
- Ability to use SolidWorks, Pro/E or equivalent tools
- BSEE or BSME
