Job Title: Senior Unix Engineer (HP/UX to IBM AIX platform migration)
Pay Rate: DOE
Start Date: ASAP
Location: Westlake, TX
Interview: Phone to Onsite

Project: Hardware support for PLM migration. This position is an engineer level position where the candidate will be analyzing products, determine what types of software is needed for the migration, make suggestions and design landscape for the project. There will be 3rd level on call (rotation) every other week.

Top Must Haves:
• 5+ years of IBM AIX platform experience. Must know version 6.x and VIO virtualization technologies. A third party vendor for the project will be introducing the AIX platform to LS & Co for the first time so this candidate will need to provide his/her expertise on it
• 5+ years of Linux platform experience- Red Hat preferred.
• 5+ years of Unix platform experience. HP/UX – this is the platform LS & Co is currently running

Duties:
• Establishes system specifications by conferring with users; analyzing workflow, access, information, and security requirements; designing system infrastructure.
• Establishes system by planning and executing the selection, installation, configuration, and testing of UNIX based system to include but not limited to server hardware, software, LAN and WAN networks, and operating and system management systems; defining system and operational policies and procedures.
• Maintains system performance by performing system monitoring and analysis, and performance tuning; troubleshooting system hardware, software, networks and operating and system management systems; designing and running system load/stress testing; escalating application problems to vendor.
• Secures system by developing system access, monitoring, control, and evaluation; establishing and testing disaster recovery policies and procedures; completing back-ups; maintaining documentation.
• Prepares Operational support teams by designing and conducting training programs; providing references and support.
• Upgrades system by conferring with vendors and services; developing, testing, evaluating, and installing enhancements and new software.

Skills/Qualifications:
• 5+ years of Unix/Linux platform experience. HP/UX and Red Hat preferred.
• 5+ years of IBM AIX platform experience. Must know version 6.x and VIO virtualization technologies
• 3+ years experience with LINUX OS hosting in a VMware vSphere environment
• Minimum of 5 years of UNIX/LINUX design and implementation experience, 3 of Operational support experience
• 5+ years experience with x86 and x64 server hardware, preferably HP Proliant C Class Blades and DL models
• 4+ years working in redundant n-tier architectures supporting clustered configurations, IBM Power HA, RHEL Clustering, Opensource heartbeat 2, HPUX MCSG.
• Experience with designing and supporting disaster recovery configuration at secondary sites
• Experience with configuring secure operating system deployments and standards (OS hardening)
• Experience with designing and supporting LDAP technologies for a UNIX environment
• Deep understanding of open source software technology
• SAN/NAS experience, configuring servers to use FC, NFS & CIFS.
• Networking – knowledge working with load balancers
• Scripting and light programming using kshell & bash
• Experience hosting systems in a cloud environment a plus, Amazon EC2, etc
• Experience with systems performance management, generating reports, analyzing logs, GLANCE, NMon
• Experience with SW distribution and updates via SUSE SMT and/or RHEL Satellite server
