Cloud Operations Systems Engineer, San Francisco, CA 12+ months
Job Responsibilities:
Cloud Ops forms part of Cloud Services that has an exciting and challenging mission: Build, deploy, operate, scale and maintain a company-wide platform (PaaS) for SaaS solutions. While Shared Cloud Engineering focuses on building the Shared Cloud platform, Cloud Ops provides operational support for both the platform as well as the product teams that leverage the platform
We are a trusted partner to our clients based on proven track record to meet Service Level Agreements (SLAs) for specific services we charge our clients - Application Management, Service Support, and Cloud Hosting. We have two additional services that round out Cloud Ops - Architecture and Service Management.
As a Cloud Operations Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for a variety of technical, operational, and consultative activities, including system administration and release engineering tasks. Candidate should have an expert background in running both Linux and Window server applications, programming aptitude, experience with a formal software release process, and the ability to learn quickly. Experience supporting a production environment is required, as you will be a key member of the team responsible for delivering the world class online service to a fast growing customer base.
Application Management:
The success of Application Management is measured by SLAs established between Application Management and the Cloud product teams. Major responsibilities of Application Management include partnering with Engineering and QE on major and dot releases; perform all releases; deploy emergency patches; ensure all environments are appropriately monitored; proactively maintain the overall health of all environments; and to respond to system outages according to standard operating procedures. Application Management forms part of the larger Cloud Ops organization that includes Cloud Hosting, Service Support, Service Management, and Architecture.
Areas of Responsibility:
* Support and maintain global application production environments.
* Install, configure, and upgrade custom and packaged applications.
* Handling and resolving issues escalated from the production operational environment on a rotating 24x7 on-call basis.
* Maintain production monitoring systems.
* Troubleshoot performance and stability issues.
* Evaluate and manage application and environment security.
* Follow change management processes during implementations.
* Use and maintain version control for application infrastructure.
* Work in a diverse and global team environment.
* Cross-train with other administrators.
* Seek opportunities to streamline standard operating procedures
Job Requirements:
* University degree (BS/MS) in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or equivalent
* 5 or more years of experience in Windows Server and Linux administration in an internet focused production environment.
* Hands-on experience with multiple, diverse technologies and processing environments (including but not limited to system and network administration, 24/7 intervention on Internet and SaaS products, remote troubleshooting on J2EE, LAMP and Microsoft-based environments)
* Thorough understanding of networking concepts and Internet protocols.
* Experience with cloud-computing stacks is an important advantage
* Advanced analytical and technical experience
* Ability to hit the ground running and provide value immediately
* Willingness to work in fast-paced environments

* Ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing priorities and requirements.
* Excellent communication and prioritization skills
