Software Engineer, Front End
The primary focus of this position is building and delivering new and innovative features and interfaces. If you are passionate about great user experience, you relish the craftsmanship of creating well designed software, and you want to build the next jaw dropping product for visualizing data on the web and mobile devices, then this is the position for you. You will be constantly challenged to leverage your creativity and your technical prowess to satisfy customers and extend their ability to see, understand, and "reach out and touch" their data. The position will provide plenty of interesting, hard-core technical challenges and as much responsibility as you can handle. You will be responsible for the development of client-side (and occasionally server-side) features of software for Tableau Server, Tableau Public and Tableau Digital. Your features will be used by tens of thousands of people every day all around the world.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
 Design and implement features in a web-based analytical product.
 Participate in the evolution of the system architecture.
 Author automated tests (unit test and black box tests)
 Work with customers, support, and QA to resolve bugs and support issues.
 Review and provide detailed feedback on documentation and test plans for features.
 Other related duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge and Experience
 Knowledge of Web technologies, development tools, JavaScript, HTML and CSS.
 Experience with object-oriented languages, such as Java, C# or C++.
 Experience in developing rich, interactive user experiences.
 Knowledge of relational databases and data warehousing a plus.
 Experience with multi-touch interfaces a plus.
 Familiarity with the development of large-scale web applications a plus.
Qualifications
 BSCS or equivalent
Working Conditions
 Location: Seattle, WA or Kirkland, WA or San Mateo, CA
 Working conditions are normal for an office environment
 Ability to sit for moderate periods of time working on a computer
 Occasional travel may be required
