The Sr. Systems Administrator is responsible for providing expert management of the PPS infrastructure. This position will have full ownership and responsibility for Windows, VMware and Storage infrastructure projects, providing technical guidance and stewardship for our Active Directory and Exchange environment as well as all other infrastructure areas.



This position requires the ability to work well independently as well as with a team.

PRIMARY FUNCTION:



Install, configure, reconfigure and tune Windows operating systems in a highly available, 24x7 environment within multiple data centers across multiple states

Implement and support multiple VMWare ESXi clusters (25 hosts, 300+ guests)

Implement and support multiple local and remote SANs from multiple vendors

Support disaster recovery and ensure continuous availability of business-critical applications

Monitor resource utilization, system logs, make recommendations for system upgrades when necessary, take corrective action for problems as they arise

Research and recommend innovative, and where possible automated, approaches for system administration tasks. Identify approaches that leverage our resources and provide economies of scale

Act as the project manager for infrastructure work and/or perform the role of Technical Lead for infrastructure projects

Evaluate new products technologies and/or recommend purchases

Work with the networking engineer to design, implement troubleshoot and optimize performance of WAN/LAN links

Work with the telephony vendors to design, implement troubleshoot and optimize performance of the PPS VOIP system

Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs

Performs assigned tasks of moderate to high complexity using established procedures, standards, and guidelines

Required to work after hours when required to install, patch and repair servers and ancillary systems

Develop and manage systems capacity plan

Develop, document, communicate, and enforce a policy for standardizing systems and software as necessary

Mentor other system administrators

MINIUMUM QUALIFICATIONS:



Experience with industry-standard operational practices such as change management, incident management, and working in colocation data centers

Operating production systems in a secure manner meeting a goal of 99.9% uptime

Ability to work effectively with a variety of people

Excellent communication skills

Professional appearance and demeanor

Minimum of 3 years hands-on operational management and troubleshooting Microsoft Active Directory in a high-availability, 24x7 environment

Minimum of 5 years��� experience building and operating Microsoft Windows Server 2003-2012 server Operating Systems

Familiarity with networking concepts and DNS

Familiarity with Windows Power Shell and ability to write, implement, and troubleshoot Windows scripts

Familiarity and experience with disk-to-disk backup and tape backup techniques

Strong technical and trouble-shooting skills are required.

Effectively manages own time and resources.

Seeks to apply technology and innovation to improve efficiency and solve problems.

Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.

Experience working both independently and in a team-oriented, global collaborative environment.

Self-motivated, detail-oriented and organized.

Associates or Bachelor's Degree preferred.

PHYSICAL EFFORT:

Required to work extended periods of time at PPS. Required to travel and work at all locations as needed. Incumbent may be required to move or relocate computer equipment; incumbent must be able to lift 50+ pounds and have excellent manual dexterity.
