Data Mining Scientist

Skyline is working with a dynamic startup in the Big Data space focused on delivering cloud-based predictive analytics to mid to large B2C enterprises. The company is backed by a premier venture firm and is located in Santa Clara, CA.

We are looking for a star data-mining scientist to join our team. The person would be responsible for developing new algorithms for analyzing huge volumes of data, both structured and unstructured, to provide insights and actionable information. The algorithms will be built on top of the very scalable platform, which is built on top of Hadoop.

Position Responsibilities:

• Develop and test machine learning algorithms applied to targeting, recommendations, behavioral analytics, etc. on Big Data.
• Work closely with product management and engineering leads to productize the algorithms to address real world data.
• Work with customers to map the algorithms to new problems and data types.
• Develop demos and prototypes to showcase the technology.
• Work with marketing to publicize the technology, including writing papers, making presentations, etc.
Required Skills:
• Experience in working on predictive algorithms on Big Data.
• Experience in working with product teams to deliver machine-learning algorithms for real world problems.
• Hands-on experience in building system with machine learning techniques, such as logistic regression, Naïve Bayes, SVM, decision trees, neural networks, and random forests.
• At least 5-10 years of experience of building systems using object oriented technologies such as C++, Java.
• Good understanding of algorithms, data structures, performance optimization techniques, and software development in a team environment
• Experience with Hadoop and related open source technologies.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• MS/Ph.D. in Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
• 5-10 years of experience
