All products support today´s precise timing standards, including GPS-based timing, IEEE 1588 (PTP), Network Time Protocol (NTP), Synchronous Ethernet and DOCSIS® timing.
We seek highly motivated Embedded Software Application Engineers to join our San Jose-based Software Engineering team to design and implement embedded software for next generation IP based precise time and frequency delivery and distribution systems.
Key responsibilities for this position include:
* Develop embedded software for IP based precise timing/frequency applications
* Analyze product requirements and translate them into engineering specifications
* Write software design documents (architecture, module, and detailed design)
* Implement software modules/functions using C,C++ and scripting languages
* Perform software unit and integration testing
* Perform product sustaining tasks such as debugging and fixing product defects
* Support system testing and production testing
Preferred Experience Requirements:
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics or equivalent
* Minimum 3 years of embedded software design experience with 1 year minimum writing programs for embedded Linux
* Solid programming experience in C and C++ with emphasis on embedded systems
* Experience with embedded Linux development environment and tool chain
* Understanding of Linux coding techniques such as threading, processes, IPC, signals.
* Experience of using IP protocols and network programming
* Good communication, writing and organizational skills
Experience or knowledge in one or more of the following areas will be greatly valued:
* Packet network time synchronization protocols, such as NTP and IEEE-1588
* Telecom and network protocols and technologies such as T1/E1/SDH, IPv4 and IPv6
* Wireless communication systems and networks
* Network security protocols such as Radius and others
