Symmetricom (Nasdaq: SYMM), leads the world in the design and manufacture of
precise time and frequency products and services essential to communication,
computation, transportation, space and many electronic systems. Our products
bring critical timing, frequency and synchronization solutions to telecom,
enterprise, and space, defense, and avionics networks in over 90 countries. In
addition to generating time, Symmetricom products distribute and apply time,
enabling a range of critical operations - from controlling or synchronizing the
flow of voice, video, and data throughout communication networks, to securing
mobile communications in warzones or facilitating complex navigation systems in
space.

As our product set grows, we are also expanding our development and test
capabilities. We are currently looking for a Senior System Test Engineer with a
broad range of experience to join our engineering team.

As a member of the Symmetricom engineering team you will work alongside
physicists, engineers and other technologists to validate products in both
current and next generation precise time and frequency areas. Development Test
Engineers will receive focused technical training to augment current experience
as the Systems Test team provides a broad and deep test capability within
engineering.

These hands-on positions provide valuable experience which can help accelerate
career development in various internal and external areas including engineering,
service, sales and QA. Some of the responsibilities you will perform in this
position include:

* Conceive and develop flexible test strategies for application across a
wide variety of products
* Initiate and drive the development and review of test processes, plans and
procedures
* Design and configure test setups, install software and develop automation
scripts
* Execute tests against hardware and software to validate features,
functionality and performance
* Participate in various training classes and laboratories in a rapid
learning environment
* Document results and work closely with developers and others to analyze
and debug issues

Job Requirements

* Minimum of BSCS/BSEE degree plus 5+ years experience in QA or test
automation
* Highly analytical mindset with exceptional problem solving and critical
thinking skills
* A passion for learning about precision timing, instrumentation, GPS and
related areas
* Strong verbal and written communication skills, including exceptional
teamwork skills
* Hands-on experience using and testing embedded products, e.g. in a QA or
support role
* Reasonably skilled with at least one programming language and using lab
test equipment
* Demonstrated experience and growing expertise working in a Linux
environment
* Significant experience with automated testing and scripting tools like
Python, Perl, LabVIEW, etc.
* Demonstrated expertise in test methodology and system-level test
architecture development
* Demonstrated ability to work with developers and mentor and lead junior
Dev-Test Engineers
* Experience interacting with customers on technical issues
