Website Reliability Engineer needed for long term project work for Client Company.

**Due to the nature of the interview process, local candidates with local experience only please (Local = San Francisco Bay Area)

The Role:

Contribute to administering and monitoring a large transaction volume web site.

Responsibilities:

Responsible for running our production services, as a part of a collective group of developers, QA, and operational engineers that ensure service reliability, scalability and performance. The Reliability Engineer role combines software development, networking and systems engineering expertise to build and run large scale, distributed, fault- tolerant software systems and infrastructure.

Administer, monitor and manage large-scale production environment for web applications systems

Implement automated procedures for deployment, configuration, startup, and shutdown procedures of services, tools, application servers.

Participate in 24X7 on-call production support rotation.

Work with engineering and release management to document, enhance, and improve on application operational procedures and processes

Minimum qualifications:

BA/BS degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.

5 years of operational experience supporting a high volume web facing property.

Strong experience executing above mentioned activities in a complex environment involving multiple servers/services/applications/tools

Technical expertise in Unix OS and Shell, Perl or Python Scripting, knowledge in Oracle SQL deployed database systems.

Knowledge of Java will be an added advantage

Strong knowledge of Monitoring tools (Splunk, PagerDuty, etc…)

Should have knowledge of a deployment environment involving load balancer, Firewalls, webservers, application servers, databases, routers/switches

Possess ability to understand core JVM parameters and take thread dumps and core dumps and analyze the logs

Working knowledge of SCM best practices in SOA environment

Ability to translate technical changes into user based communications

Must have good analytical skills to debug deployment problems without taking help from developers

Must have strong track record managing multiple responsibilities in a fast- paced environment.

Ability to clearly articulate messages to a variety of audiences, including the ability to influence across the organization.

Proven communication skills with multiple levels of an organization, including interaction with a senior leadership team within a company.
