We seek a Project Manager to join the newly created Project Management Office of the Quality and Business Processes team based in San Jose, CA.
The Project Manager will simultaneously lead multiple cross-functional projects across the business and provide solutions to a diverse range of small to medium sized moderately complex projects, and be a key contributor to large/complex company-wide initiatives.


These initiatives are highly cross-functional with strong business implications and will typically have high business impact and require a great deal of coordination and communication across various departments within Symmetricom.

Duties and Responsibilities

*The Project Manager will be a key contributor to the success of the Corporate Project Management Office including managing the project pipeline, vetting of the business cases, coordinating support of the PMO steering committee of key company executives, and developing and deploying program-wide metrics and milestone management.


*These projects will be championed by a departmental director/manager working with the business stakeholders and project sponsor to determining the project leadership or coaching role as assigned to the Project Manager.


*Projects may include attributes impacting the business success factors, efficiency or customer satisfaction, for example: processes impacting ERP, CRM; M&A; process redesign, product pricing, and corporate technology systems deployment.


*Accountability with the functional managers to each keep project on track


*Create and maintain project issues tracking and risk mitigation


*Act as a team Business Analyst or Process Analyst, per requirement


*Report status, risks and mitigation to VP and Corporate PMO steering committee


*Escalate material deviations in a timely, constructive and action-oriented manner


*Manage multiple projects simultaneously


-Coordinate indirectly entire program scope of corporate initiatives managed by Project Manager directly, or by others designated in the organization





Qualifications and experience required for this role:



*BachelorÂ's degree, MBA or post graduate education with 8+ yearsÂ' experience ; 5 + years project management experience in a software or hardware technology industry


*PMP certification or equivalent preferred


*Management of projects and program timelines, risks, resources, scope and budget as well as motivating and leading others, through vision, strategic positioning, and leadership characteristics is required.


*Power level user in MS-Project, MS-SharePoint, MS-Excel (including advanced analysis skills),


*Strong leadership skills that include the ability to lead a team comprised of cross-department and cross-level resources


*Demonstrated team-building skills that include bringing people together from various disciplines, experience, and levels to work together towards a common goal


*Powerful, clear communication skills that include the ability to communicate with various levels and departments within the company; Capacity to negotiate with peers and leadership


*Discipline, organization and analytical skills that include experience responding to changing needs and shifting priorities while minimizing project impact


*Financial ROI analysis experience is essential


*Experience working with structured methodologies (a Product Development Lifecycle methodology preferred)


*Six Sigma, process mapping, re-engineering experience preferred;


-Extensive project leadership experience in moderate to large enterprise projects affecting company business processes, structures or information technology infrastructure is a key success factor.
