Wind River Systems has a great opportunity for a Member of the Technical Staff  Customer Support. The candidate we are seeking is an excellent communicator both written and verbal, with a strong desire and ability to work with the customer to resolve their technical problems by troubleshooting and debugging operating systems in a real-time embedded environment.
Please note, this is not an IT position for Systems Administration or Desktop Support.
Responsibilities include the following:
- Based on reports from developers using Wind River products, the engineer will identify and correct or provide workarounds for defects in operating systems and tools, design and write programs that test functionality and demonstrate the proper implementation of APIs.
- Communicate effectively with customers (developers) to resolve their problems
- Communicate effectively with account teams on customer issues
- Document customer issues and resolutions accurately and thoroughly
- Develop technical content, articles and demonstration code for online support site
- Participate in support process improvement activities
Required Experience
- At least 10 years of customer support experience
- At least 5 years programming experience with C/C++ or experience debugging C/C++ applications
- At least 3 years of programming experience on Linux or 5 years supporting Linux developers
- Strong networking knowledge/experience
- Strong communication and customer service skills (written and verbal)
- Strong troubleshooting skills
- Knowledge of Linux tools
- Self-motivated, independent and comfortable working directly with technical customers
- BS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related major
Preference will be given to those candidates with the above noted requirements and:
- Experience working with an integrated development environment (IDE)
- Experience with embedded systems
- Experience with Yocto
- Familiarity with the Open Source Community is a plus
