[KITlist-Tech] Field Applications Engineer - SIMICS Solution (Southern California, CA)

Please direct your responses to: nancy.smith@windriver.com

FAE Simics Group

Technical

A senior level software engineer. Not just a coder, but someone who is experienced with software architecture, software design, software coding and testing
Experience with developing device drivers, firmware, BSPs, hardware bring-up
Ability to read and understand programmers reference manuals for hardware devices
An understanding of digital systems, how various components (such as CPU, memory, UARTs, DMA controllers, Ethernet, etc.) operate and interact
Strong programming skills in multiple languages (C/C++, Python, assembly, Ada, Perl, etc.)
Experience with Real Time Operating Systems and cross-development tools
Experience with application-level software development (understands the issues involving large application development efforts of millions of lines of code or large (>15) teams of developers)
A fundamental understanding of how networking works, especially the low-level layers is desired as this represent the largest category of our customers.
At least 5 years of experience working in the real world as a software developer in addition to customer facing presentation skills and a desire to engage with customers
Basically, our FAEs need to be better than our typical customers engineers

Education

BS degree in an engineering discipline, preferably computer science or computer engineering or software engineering (without this, there needs to be a considerable amount of professional experience in these fields instead)

Other
Self motivated, self disciplined, self starting, self sufficient
Excellent giving presentations in front of groups of people
 Able to prioritize tasks
An understanding of basic business sales principals
 Not afraid of a challenge
 Outgoing and personable
Comfortable in the role as a change agent (i.e. ability to engage with a customer and significantly impact their current software development approach/process such that it incorporates the value of Wind Rivers Simics solution in their everyday approach to developing their applications)

Note: We do not list simulation as a required skill or experience. While it would be nice for an FAE candidate to know SIMICS or a competitors simulation product coming into this role, we believe it is much easier for a person skilled with software engineering to learn simulation on the job rather than to try to take someone who knows simulation but doesnt understand software and/or what our customers daily pain points are.
