Applied Physics Systems is recruiting for a Quality Assurance Director
Department: Quality/Operations
Reports to: CEO/President
Summary: Assure consistent quality of production by developing and enforcing accurate automated manufacturing systems; validating processes; providing documentation; managing staff.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
• Develop and implement a quality production program to ensure conformity of purchased material and final products to quality standards
• Develop and maintain a supplier quality index, utilizing statistical control programs, to assure that only high quality vendors are retained and updated on approved supplier list.
• Meet with vendors, customers, quality representatives and company personnel to discuss and resolve quality problems as required
• Prepare all necessary reports as required by customers and staff
• Track customer returns and rejections
• Achieve quality assurance operational objectives by contributing information and analysis to strategic plans and review, prepare and complete action plans; implement production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; identifying and resolving problems; completing audits; determining system improvements; implementing change.
• Meet quality assurance financial objectives by estimating requirements; prepare an annual budget; schedule expenditures; analyze variances; initiate corrective actions.
• Develop quality assurance plans by conducting hazard analyses; identifying critical control points and preventive measures; establishing critical limits, monitoring procedures, corrective actions, and verification procedures; monitoring inventories.
• Validate quality processes by establishing product specifications and quality attributes; measuring production; documenting evidence; determining operational and performance qualification; writing and updating quality assurance procedures.
• Maintain and improve product quality by completing product, company, system, compliance, and surveillance audits; investigate customer complaints; collaborate with other members of management to develop new product and engineering designs, and manufacturing and training methods.
• Prepare quality documentation and reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information and trends including failed processes, stability studies, recalls, corrective actions, and re-validations.
• Update job knowledge by studying trends in and developments in quality management; participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
• Enhance department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
• Accomplish quality assurance human resource objectives by recruiting, selecting, orienting, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing job contributions; planning and reviewing compensation actions; enforcing policies and procedures.
Skills/Qualifications: Process Improvement, Analyzing Information , Strategic Planning, Verbal Communication, Informing Others, Quality Engineering, Emphasizing Excellence, Attention to Detail, Thoroughness, Dealing with Complexity
Education/Experience: Statistical analysis, precision measurement and process capability studies will be an intricate part of the quality assurance program. 10 plus years' experience. Mil Spec experience a plus. Managed a team of 10 or more employees. Prior experience in measurement and verification of complex mechanical parts.
Language Ability:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Math Ability: Mathematics, statistics and industrial practice are essential for this position.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Word Processing software; Spreadsheet software; Development software; Design software; Internet software; Manufacturing software; Database software and Contact Management systems.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Will manage the entire QA function.
