What would it be like to join a team scaling machine learning, processing large datasets in the cloud, and real time data insight and building the future of digital gaming? Our San Francisco client is building a digital marketing platform to enable game publishers to predictively target players on a 1-1 basis. This system presents exciting challenges such as scaling machine learning, processing large datasets in the cloud, and real time data insight. How would you like to be laying the groundwork for a future of adaptive, personalized gaming experiences, all powered by a next-generation data analytics platform? You would join a team of smart, pragmatic entrepreneurs and technologists coming from diverse professional and academic backgrounds. Responsibilities include:

• Build data processing software in Java for analyzing terabytes of data in the cloud using Hadoop and Hive through simple to complex chains of queries, custom UDF/UDAFs, and map/reduce jobs
• Build an advertising auction system with bidding, quality analysis and accounting
• Design, build, and own major components of the software stack
• Build a real-time API for data collection and ad serving
• Work on all aspects of software development including design, implementation, testing, deployment, tuning, and monitoring
• Interact with customers to integrate the product with their games and applications
• Advise junior software engineers
Required Skills:
• BSCS or MSCS
• Experience with Java and SQL. Python, Javascript/AJAX, RoR knowledge is a bonus
• Solid understanding of statistics and data processing
• Recent prior startup experience and/or high energy "get-it-done" personality
• An interest in playing games, either online or off
• Distributed/parallel computing, Hadoop/HBase/Hive experience
• Passion for and experience with Big Data analytics
