NGS Domain Architect
Job Summary:
As the (NGS) Domain Architect, you will work as part of a highly technical team of professionals who are responsible for the architectural design, development, and deployment of cost effective and sustainable technical and application solutions to meet business requirements. This position reports to the NGS Technology Manager in the System Deployment and Domain Architecture organization.
The NGS Domain Architect will drive the overall NGS architecture and technology for customer support applications including XTERRA, VERITY, and NOW. They will be responsible for technical decisions regarding configuration, integration, system administration, project support, instance strategy, upgrades, enhancements, release management, deployments, and support readiness. Strong organizational skills, technical expertise and attention to detail are essential in this role.
This position will be accountable for developing application technology standards, application governance policies, and technical system documentation. They will also work collaboratively with cross-functional IT groups in the design and development of major software projects that vary in scope and complexity.
In addition, they will be responsible for transitioning the business application solutions into the production environment per agreed upon quality and service level objectives by actively engaging with the Operational Support and Infrastructure teams via the Support Readiness process and methodology.
Key Responsibilities:
-Define procedures, process, and tools for system builds, deployments, code migration, and integration across the entire NGS landscape.
-Architecture design, application installation, configuration, standardization, load-balancing, high-availability configuration, deployments, migrations, and refreshes
-Design technical solutions and own key decisions to maximize the performance, uptime, and supportability of applications and technology platforms.
-Provide expert-level system analysis and problem resolution for NGS applications.
-Manage technical requirements, documentation, and deployment of custom development efforts for J2EE, Oracle Web Logic, and Web-based applications.
-Maintain comprehensive project, technical, and architectural documentation for enterprise systems.
-Responsible for updated disaster recovery plans and the execution of business continuity recovery tests.
-Manage capacity planning, landscape strategy, health checks, deployments, upgrades, patches
-Provide technical expertise and leadership within cross-functional teams in the design, planning, and deployment of enterprise business system solutions.
-Project resource coordination, level of effort estimations, requirement and sizing reviews
Required Technical Skills:
- Expert knowledge of J2EE architecture, standards and current solutions.
- Proficient in system administration, application development, project management, system deployment, and support of n-tier custom web applications.
-Direct system administration experience managing servers, databases, and technical infrastructure for diverse enterprise applications including load-balancing, high-availability, disaster recovery and integration.
-Responsive to operational challenges involved in managing complex and highly integrated systems.
-Deep understanding and experience using the SDLC methodology and SCCS Systems, preferably Perforce.
- Hands-on experience in Oracle Web Logic 11g Architecture supporting a three-tier (web, application, and database) IT infrastructure on UNIX platforms.
- Experience with web technology solutions, preferably Apache web servers and and WebLogic applications servers.
-Well versed in shell/PERL scripting and comfortable using Oracle 11g WebLogic Scripting Tools (WLST)
- Familiar with Oracle 10g Database Administration including design, deployment and security for maximum performance, scalability, and reliability.
-Practical experience leveraging ITIL best practices for change management.
-Exceptional written and interpersonal communications skills with the ability to clearly articulate technical problems and solutions in business context.
-Strong organization, facilitation, and leadership skills.
-Capacity to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Education:
-BA or BS degree in Information Systems or Computer Science
-Minimum 5 years of relevant IT experience at global technology companies.
-Proven track record in managing and supporting Oracle WebLogic, J2EE, JavaScript, Web Services, relational databases, and enterprise business applications.
