Job Description
A leading technology company in the south bay is seeking an experienced electrical engineer to lead product specific energy efficiency program initiatives for electronic products including design, testing, and certification. Responsibilities will include program management of new hardware projects and development of a world class energy test lab.
The candidate will be responsible for:
- establishing and justifying industry leading energy efficiency targets for portable, desktop and handheld devices
- working with cross-functional engineering teams to design solutions that will meet targets while developing specs and test procedures
- performing a environmental program management role during the development hardware projects to ensure they meet broader internal environmental targets
- working with legislators and regulatory bodies and test agencies to establish new test procedures, influence new standards and improve the efficiency of certification processes.
- oversee the successful scheduling and management of a corporate wide test matrix, tying together internal teams, suppliers and external test bodies
- monitoring regulatory and standards roadmaps for energy efficiency requirements. Assessing and communicating impacts relating to current and future technologies.
- managing lab procedures, including the design of automated procedures to improve the efficiency of lab throughput
Requirements
Ideally the candidate will have the following:
• BS in EE
• Program management experience
• Experience using electronic test equipment such as power meters and electronic loads
• Experience with third-party certification programs such as CSA and UL
• Experience with ISO 17025 lab quality management systems and procedures
• Strong IT background a plus
The candidate should be a motivated self-starter and able to learn new skills in a fast pace environment, managing multiple concurrent tasks. Attention to detail and skills in time management, technical written and verbal communication, and problem solving are required.
