Title: Software Tester
Duties:
Software Tester to plan, develop and execute complex system wide software test activities on the life science software.
Apply engineering and scientific competencies to verify and validate product requirements, specifications, and algorithm design and develop, maintain test procedures for a variety of Windows based software products.
Organize and maintain defect-tracking and test case databases for multiple projects.
Execute accepted verification and validation (V&V) processes while working under general direction
Determine and develop approach to complete assignments.
Guide and oversee activities to include planning and coordination with multiple teams in the U.S. and overseas.
Required Skills:
5+ years of work experience in testing software, preferably for DNA analysis application, utilizing a formalized Software
Software Tester must be a strong team player and have leading test team experience.
Must have understanding of software testing process (SDL Cycle), including the ability to write effective SW Verification test plan documents, identify scope, provide test effort estimations, and describe methodology used. Verifies requirements through traceability analyses and test case coverage.
Proficient in executing accepted verification and validation (V&V) processes.
Practical experience with Genomic databases and their annotations.
Experience with at least one scripting/programming language (Perl, Python, VB, Matlab etc.) is a must.
Experience with at least one test management tool (Lab View, TPLan,HPQCetc.) is a must.
Ability to articulate and explain difficult technical issues.
Demonstrate baseline understanding and implementation of software testing "best practices" combined with the ability to "think outside the box".
Proactive and self-motivated, great attention to detail, results-oriented problem solving, critical thinking, and able meet aggressive deadlines.
Preferred Skills:
Experience working in regulated/validated environment is a major plus.
Ability to identify and automate repetitive tasks to enhance data retrieval, manipulation and analysis.
Familiarity with object oriented (C++ / Java), iterative and test driven development is a huge plus.
Familiarity with at least one automation tool (Silk, QTP etc.) is a plus.
Education:
BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Bioengineering, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Bioinformatics or equivalent.
