[KITlist-Tech] Product Line Manager - Android and Linux Software (SF Bay Area, CA)

The Product Line Manager (PLM) for Wind River's Open Source Software
is responsible for the product planning and execution throughout the product lifecycle of embedded Android and Linux software products including: gathering and prioritizing product and customer requirements, defining the product vision, and working closely with engineering, sales, marketing and support to ensure revenue and customer satisfaction goals are met. The PLM's job also includes ensuring that the product supports the company´s overall strategy and goals.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
• Develop and define product strategies and roadmaps to capitalize on opportunities for growth of existing and new customers
• Manage product line direction through an on-going assessment of current products, pricing and position
• Document concept for new products to meet existing or anticipated market needs
• Develop and review business cases to substantiate new initiatives related to their products
• Understand market pricing and opportunities/risks to existing and new customers. Developing joint sales plans with the sales force
• Visit/talk with customers and prospects and provide call reports for executive management distribution
• Participate in strategic meetings with customers and prospects to share in depth product knowledge and develop collaborative strategies
• Continuously improve process or recommend process improvements.
• Prioritize fixes and enhancements for the products and coordinating with Technology groups to develop and implement
• Deliver requirement documentation with prioritized features and corresponding justification
• Work with the Wind River Alliance's team to assess partnerships and vendor opportunities with external third parties
• Run beta and pilot programs with early-stage products
• Be an expert with respect to the product, competition and industry
• Act as a leader within the company
 
Ideal Candidate Profile:
The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated proactive leader with a proven track record of driving results through cross functional teams to deliver products or services in the open source software industry. This person will have managed directly and indirectly, worked globally with Linux software customers and internal teams, and have the presence and experience presenting to senior executives. Creative, intellectual, equally comfortable with technical and business issues, this person will have the energy and drive to get things done in an entrepreneurial environment.
Specific Skills and Qualifications:
• 7+ years of software product industry experience, ideally in Linux and Android
• 4+ years product management experience for b2b software and/or cloud-based services
• In-depth knowledge of Linux and open source licensing
• Proven ability to lead cross functional teams and get the job done, on time and within budget
• Experience presenting to and interacting with decision makers for both project approval and status reporting
• Superior financial and analytical skills with ability to quantify and monitor potential opportunities and actual results
• In-depth understanding of product and software development process
• Project management experience required
• Strong negotiation and public speaking skills
• Effective problem solving and organizational skills
• International experience a plus
• BS required or equivalent work experience; MBA is a plus
