[KITlist-Tech] CONTR: VMware vSphere upgrade and ongoing maintenance (Palo Alto, CA)

Duration: 6 months +
Note: Project involves VMware vSphere upgrade and ongoing maintenance

Responsibilities:

* Supports, configure, and automate the deployment of our Linux and Windows on VMware infrastructure.
* Troubleshoots internal and external applications, hardware problems, operating system issues and work with new services on a daily basis.

Required Skills/Experience:

* 5+ years experience with managing large VMware vSphere infrastructure.
* Experience in 4.x and 5.x upgrade.
* Experience in utilizing auxiliary vSphere components such as VMware Update Manager.
* Experience in using vCLI for automating deployment and configuration of ESX and vCenter hosts.
* Experience building and configuring systems to support large-scale web applications and databases.
* Ability to troubleshoot and diagnosis performance issues in a VMware vSphere environment.
* Ability to solve problems quickly and automate processes.
* Ability to program in an administrative language (Perl, bash, python, etc.).
* Maintains availability, performance, and growth of multiple critical VMware environments.
* SAN/NAS experience with virtualized environments.
* VCP Certification (VMware Certified Professional)


Desired Skills/Experience:

* Understanding of the VMware vSphere API including the ability to create and debug scripts and code.
* Experience in deploying and managing I/O virtualization technology.
* Understanding of networking/distributed computing environment concepts; understands principles of routing, networking and firewalls.
* Bachelor´s degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
