[KITlist-Tech] IT Architecture – Team Lead – Java, Spring MVC (Menlo Park, CA)

SUMMARY
The Architecture team is looking for a Principal Engineer to lead and collaborate with our core development teams. The focus is on building and extending our online trading platforms. As a Principal Engineer, you will help set direction for the firm´s Application Lifecycle Management, Development Tools, Core Software Architectures and Development Practices.

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Team Lead role with 70% hands-on design and coding & 30% people management
• The role will require extensive experience in design and development on the Unix/Linux platform and excellent skills in Java and Spring MVC.
• The primary focus is on improving existing frameworks used to develop sophisticated web applications.
• The candidate will also mentor and manage team members and provide technical leadership through the entire development life cycle of the product.
• The candidate will act as a consultant to his/her development teams on all development projects and will advise the development and proper use of core technologies.
• The role will require performing some level of troubleshooting and issue resolution, and work closely with internal and external team members to meet those demands.
• As part of our strategic direction, open-source technologies are used extensively to provide leading-edge solutions.

REQUIREMENTS
MUST HAVE
• 8+ years total development experience
• 5+ years programming with our core technologies: Java, Spring MVC, Unix/Linux
• 5+ years' experience in Unix/Linux platform
• Experience building applications/frameworks with large scale applications for cloud based deployment
• Understanding of messaging technologies, message brokers. We use RabbitMQ
• BS or MS in computer science or related field

DESIRABLE
• Familiar with Maven based build environment
• Familiar with a version control system. We use Subversion
• Familiar with various development tools – Eclipse, NetBeans
• Familiar with Web technologies and frameworks Spring Core, jQuery
• Familiar with scripting languages such at Perl, Shell programming; Ruby or Python a plus
• Strong written and oral communication skillsThanks & Regards
