[KITlist-Tech] Principal, IT Architecture – I.C. – Web Services SOA Architect (Menlo Park, CA)

SUMMARY
The Architecture team is looking for a Principal Engineer to act as an individual contributor responsible for the design and development of our web application framework that meets the challenges of today´s Web 2.0 based Internet platform. The individual will help set direction for the firm´s Core Software Architectures, Application Lifecycle Management, Development Tools and Development Practices.

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Individual contributor role focused on the design and development on Unix/Linux platform and excellent programming skills in Java, SOA and Web services.
• The primary focus is on improving existing frameworks used to develop sophisticated web applications.
• The candidate will act as a consultant to his/her development teams on all development projects and will advise the development teams on the proper use of core technologies.
• The role will require performing some level of troubleshooting and issue resolution, and work closely with internal and external team members to meet those demands.
• As part of our strategic direction, open-source technologies are used extensively to provide leading-edge solutions.

REQUIREMENTS
MUST HAVE
• 8+ years total development experience
• 5+ years' experience in programming in Java and Spring (needs to be currently or recently been working in these technologies)
• 5+ years' experience in Unix/Linux platform
• 3+ years building web services in frameworks such as Apache CXF, Axis, and Spring Web Services
• 2+ years' experience in Hibernate
• Experience building applications/frameworks with large scale applications for cloud based deployment
• BS or MS in computer science or related field

DESIRABLE
• Understanding of messaging technologies, message brokers. We use RabbitMQ
• Familiar with a version control system. We use Subversion
• Familiar with modern languages such as Ruby or Python a plus
• Strong written and oral communication skills
