[KITlist-Tech] Ruby Developers (both senior and junior) (San Francisco, CA)

Please direct your responses to: mike@silverkeyinc.com

Hello -

I am working with a profitable, swiftly growing company in San Francisco that is building out a brand new software group. They are looking for RoR / Ruby developers and I need a couple of junior people and a senior level engineer. The description below is for the senior role, not the junior one.

If you are senior and want to be part of a new group, this is for you.

If you are a junior person with some decent web application development experience, this is an opportunity to join a new product team and you´ll work with 3 of the top engineers who were part of building great technology products, such as Travelocity, at an early stage.

Sr. Ruby Developer (don´t have a description for the junior role)

You will be responsible for designing and implementing web applications: both internal tools and customer-facing features. You will work with stakeholders to determine requirements, document as necessary, self-manage your projects, and deliver in an agile manner according to schedule. You will be responsible for the full lifecycle from design and coding through testing and deployment, working with other developers and the chief architect to follow and help evolve our development practices.

The ideal candidate is an experienced developer who enjoys working with business owners to discuss their needs, and strives to deliver a system that people love to use. You're always interested in new technology that can help solve problems, and you keep up with what's happening. You'll be with other very experienced developers, with access to tools and knowledge to help get the job done. We're already using things like Redis, Resque, EC2, Nokogiri, and more. You'll get to choose your editor/IDE, work on a new MacBook, and our kitchen is well-stocked too.

Qualifications/Experience:
- At least 5 years of software development experience
- At least 2 years of Ruby on Rails experience
- Significant experience with databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle
- Must be comfortable with front end (JQuery, Javascript, CSS) and back end development
- Comfortable running applications in Linux environments
- Believer in writing good tests and measuring their results

Useful experience to have, but not required:
- Experience and interest in analytics, reporting, and statistics
- Source code control using git
- Running applications on Amazon EC2
- Passenger, Nginx
- Salesforce integration and/or development
- Web services in Ruby (SOAP, RESTful, etc)
- Ruby libraries such as Resque and Nokogiri
- Linux system administration
