The QA Tester provides technical testing for our Fortune 50 client's web site to assure high quality releases.
The QA Tester works with the QA Lead to schedule an appropriate level of testing before pages are launched and is responsible for testing and reviewing pre-release pages against a list of internal standards, filing bugs for all issues, and providing a test report with an Approval/Reject recommendation before the pages go-live.
In addition, the tester works to improve the QA/testing process by updating QA standards, communicating QA requirements, and developing/maintaining relationships with key members of the web team.
The majority of testing will be performed on static HTML pages. While this position won't cover much dynamically generated content, there can be a significant amount of JavaScript on the pages, some of which is used across the site. For these global elements in particular, the tester needs to be able to accurately assess the risk of changes for a release, and create a test plan that has sufficient coverage.
The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background working with Mac and Windows operating systems as well as some programming background. The role will be responsible for definition of test plans/requirements as well as developing automated testing processes. Candidates need to have a mindset for automation rather than doing things manually and should have hands-on experience developing scripts/automation for web testing.
Strong communications skills, a demonstrated history of approaching responsibilities with commitment, outstanding attention to detail, and a sense of urgency are vital. Much of the work is deadline-driven, working within a dynamic environment. An unwavering 'can-do' attitude and a willingness to work collaboratively to do whatever is required, including occasional weekend or evening testing, are critical success factors.
Necessary Experience, Education, and Attributes:
•BS plus at least 3+ years technical web production experience, with hands-on experience in a testing role
•Experience in testing high visibility, high traffic, web sites
•Experience with QA tools for automating link checking, syntax checking, general regression testing, etc

•Programming and scripting experience in languages such as Javascript, PHP, Perl, Ruby, is a plus
•Familiarity with subversion, ability to navigate through source code to understand changes
•Experience with Web browser compatibility testing including Safari, Firefox and Internet Explorer
•Ability to clearly communicate issues to developers, including writing easy-to-understand bugs
•Be able to assess and articulate the risk of a release and plan the appropriate level of testing
•Ability to estimate time required for work and then be able to execute successfully against that estimate
•A good eye for web design and a high attention to detail
•Able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and be able to work well in a deadline-driven environment
How to Apply:
