Tile: PM / Storage Design Engineer
Location: San Jose
Contract: 6+months
Must be able to work on site and able to do in person interview.
Extensive knowledge and experience of comprehensive SAN and NAS storage environments specifically including EMC VMAX, EMC VNX, Netapp SAN, Netapp NAS
Design storage services addressing enterprise wide business needs.
Senior level experience and leadership skills
Strategizing technology and service implementation.
Develops processes and procedures and clear comprehensive documentation.
Typically requires: BS, CS or equivalent plus 8-10 years of technical experience.MS or additional experience strongly preferred
Technical Evaluation and Design
- Understand Business Context of requirements to evaluate technology and solutions
- Provide technical input to requirements
- Provide technical analysis and recommendations (e.g. feasibility / impact / technical risk)
- Develop/contribute to Technical Project Plan
- Create / Contribute to design (e.g. high or low level; overall system; data flow / model, ERD, UI / wireframe; exception handling; pseudo code; API specifications)
- Conduct or participate in design Reviews
Development, Deployment and Support
- Manage Technical Project Plan (e.g. link to PM, lead team, provide status etc.)
- Secure development, staging and production environments
- Develop / generate code (e.g. hands-on coding, configuration, use of orchestration tools / packages, version control)
- Assess impact of change requests; generate options / implications; recalibrate plans; advise team members
- Conduct or participate in Code Reviews
- Conduct unit test and performance tuning (e.g. write test code and test jigs; troubleshoot and fix bugs; make adjustments to code)
- Conduct or consult on testing (e.g. stress / load testing; systems, integration, and regression testing; collaborate with QA to transfer knowledge, review test plans, fix bugs; provide support for UAT)
- Deploy code to production (e.g. deploy code to Stage; build deployment plan; build deployment scripts / packages)
- Transfer knowledge to support teams (e.g. conduct or participate in knowledge transfer meetings; provide relevant documentation; address ad-hoc questions on ongoing basis)
- Provide post-production support
Technical Leadership
- Lead and mentor technical team
- Provide consultation on technology in area of subject-matter expertise
Communication and Documentation
- Produce high quality documentation (e.g. Document design, code, and processes to ensure reuse / succession of ownership)
- Communicate status (e.g. report on progress against technical plan; timely escalation of issues and risks)
Outputs:
- Technology solution options (e.g. alternative approaches / products, results of impact and analysis)
- Technical Project Plan (e.g. what work is required, resources and skills, timeline, cost estimates)
- Technical Deployment Plan (e.g. strategy for how solution will be deployed; migration plan)
- Technical design documents: (e.g. sequence, XML, or architecture diagrams, ERDs, LDMs, schema, workflows)
- Prototypes
- Task list (e.g. detailed down to component level)
- Code / results technology solution
- Unit Tests
- Status reports
- Shared knowledge (e.g. completed work, new concepts, best practices, technology white papers, EBCs
- Support documentation
- Case resolutions (e.g. fixed bugs, resolved issues

- Quality of design / solution (e.g. design quality and elegance, ROI/VOI, sustainability / adaptability, performance / speed)
- On-time delivery (e.g. coding speed; iterations to accept; meeting milestones)
- Client satisfaction / adoption (e.g. level of influence and credibility, acceptance)

- Percent reuse
- Adherence to standards, guidelines and SLAs (e.g. security)
- Adherence to SLAs cases closed within timeframe
