Lead/ Sr Unix File System Kernel Engineer.

Location: Santa Clara CA

MUST HAVE -experience in file systems, UNIX OR (JFS2, VxFS, UFS or ZFS)


Responsibilities:

• Specify, design, & implement & port UNIX and/or (AIX, Solaris, HP-UX) & Linux kernel software at the file system and raw device layers.

• Design code with special attention to performance & correctness.

• Characterize and resolve performance issues.

• Develop unit tests.

• Work with the system test team to define test plans, troubleshoot & resolve software defects.

• Perform research of relevant standards (like NFS, CIFS, & POSIX) & technologies (like virtual machine architectures & evolution of processor architectures, new file system technologies, security & encryption) & design products that integrate seamlessly into the emerging ecosystems & conform to standards.

• Lead, mentor junior engineers in the team a plus .




Requirements:

• BSCS required, MSCS desired

• 5-10+ years development experience on UNIX, Linux, broad kernel experience in the areas of memory management, I/O access paradigms & file system internals.

• Extensive experience in designing/implementing & debugging software in multi-processor machine architectures.

• Experience in clustering & distributed file systems design is highly desirable.

• Knowledge in virtualization - virtual machine (VM) & Hypervisor system design

• Strong C

• Expert troubleshooting & debugging skills

• Experience kernel debuggers.

• Knowledge & passion for solid software engineering practices, release processes & project life cycles.

• Excellent communications skills, both verbal & written.

Must be able to write clear functional specifications & design documents & engage with customers on technical discussions a BIG PLUS.

• Self-directed & requires minimal supervision on work products.

• Experience with the Intel/AMD, PowerPC & SPARC 64-bit architectures a plus.

• Strong team player & Willingness to proactively interact with the team & achieve results in a dynamic Pre-IPO company environment.


Additional Requirements:

• Sockets & SOAP experience is a plus

• Familiarity with security, SSL software is a BIG plus.
