The Solutions Architect, Industrial Safety- Embedded Software is responsible for meeting growth targets of Industrial safety (IEC61508, Transportation, Medical) across the NA organization and has the following main areas of responsibility.
Business Development
Works closely with the Director Safety PS to build and manage an Industrial Safety Program for NA. Works with services, sales and product development to identify, address and win small to large opportunities. This includes but is not limited to the following responsibilities:
◦Establish and maintain interface to main NA certification bodies (TUEV, Lloyds etc.)
◦Developing strategies to address interpretation of standards
◦Works with Director Safety to address safety issues in modern embedded software components
◦Works with Director Safety to identify and specify new Industrial Packaged Services
◦Works with Director Safety on establishing and maintaining a services "product shelf" of safe BSPs, drivers, qualified OS
◦Identifies and qualifies partners for development of safety related systems in NA
Delivery Excellence
Has responsibility for Safety Management in NA. This includes but is not limited to the following responsibilities:
◦Manages safety aspects of deliverables and dependencies from internal and external delivery partners, ensuring delivery on all customer commitments
◦Ensures that small and large projects are managed to the committed safety metrics, including all safety and quality standards as required.
◦Participates in all project management reviews within the organization for industrial safety related projects
◦Consults Services projects and product developments as a safety manager
◦Specify a safe software architecture for customer projects
Leadership, Mentoring and Training
Has responsibility for effective leadership, mentoring, and training of all staff within the organization in NA. This includes but is not limited to the following responsibilities:
◦Training material for Sales, Product Development and Services
◦Ensures effective communication is occurring within the organization
◦Anticipates staff training needs and ensures that all staff receive needed training
◦Training on how to apply Cert products and Industrial Packaged Services
General Requirements:
◦This successful candidate will have 5+ years of experience with safety management of industrial projects:
-Managing the project interface to certification bodies
-Communication peer to customer safety management
-Conducting internal safety audits
-Attending customer quality- and safety audits
-Preparation of safety related plans and reports
-Developing a safety strategy for particular projects
◦Must have a strong software engineering background, and experience in embedded software projects / development.
◦The candidate must have demonstrated competence in bidding, winning and delivering on contracts ranging from $200K-$2M USD within the embedded safety market
◦Must have demonstrated ability in successfully leading large multi-functional high performance technical teams in a large to medium technical organization
◦Must have prior experience interfacing with customer C-level executives.
◦Travel required.
