Title: Systems Integration Engineer
Location: Costa Mesa, CA
Contract: 6+months (renewed quarterly)
Travel up to 50%.
Job Overview
The SI&T Systems Integration Engineer is responsible for the test environment including installation, configuration, management, maintenance and troubleshooting. Additional responsibilities include automated load/performance testing using scripts, as well as associated analysis of the network, log files and hardware utilization (CPU, memory etc).
Experience of DAC, DNCS, CA, EAS, DOCSIS, VOD, PPV, SDV, True2way and MPEG standards will be a clear advantage, as well as cable broadcast TV and IPTV.
Responsibilities
Build, manage and maintain both physical and virtual test environments.
Document and publish the test environment configuration.
System integration of Cisco software components with complex 3rd party vendor solutions (VOD, SDV etc).
Actively work with our development and support teams to reproduce and troubleshoot software and system issues.
Produce integration test documentation e.g. Test Design Specifications or Test Plans according to IEEE829 standards.
Design and execute functional and non-functional test cases to validate business and engineering requirements.
Specify and manage test data and test environment requirements.
Carry out server load, performance and capacity/scalability analysis planning and testing.
Create and maintain automated load/performance test scripts.
Determine optimal software/hardware configurations for product releases.
Perform end-to-end network traffic and bandwidth analysis.
Create detailed installation and configuration documentation for Cisco software.
Assess hardware and operating system requirements.
Function as part of a highly collaborative cross-site international team.
Education & Skills Required
University degree in Computer Science or equivalent industry experience.
Ability to learn and adapt to new technologies in challenging and fast-paced work environment.
Strong practical experience with Solaris or RedHat Linux.
Strong practical database experience (Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL).
Extensive knowledge of TCP/IP (IPv4 & IPv6) networking, configuration, and monitoring, as well as protocols (DNS, DHCP, SMTP, SNMP, HTTP, FTP).
Strong scripting experience (Perl, Python, Shell etc) to create and execute automated load/performance tests.
Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills.
Exceptional written and oral communications skills.
Ability to manage day to day tasks and thrive in a collaborative environment with minimal supervision.
Practical experience with JAVA/C++ will be an asset.
Digital cable television experience (CA, DRM, Tru2way, IPTV, DOCSIS) would be an asset.
UNIX system administration experience would be an asset.
Knowledge and experience of creating and administering virtual environments would be an asset.
Travel up to 50%.
