SYSTEM SOFTWARE ENGINEER (LINUX)

This is an opportunity to be involved in the development of the infrastructure powering the Vigilent Artificial Intelligence Engine and Alarms Engine appliances. We seek someone to develop and maintain Linux-based platforms for the Vigilent AI Engine and Vigilent Alarms Engine appliances. An appreciation for the importance of rigorously designed and reliable systems for a mission-critical application is essential.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Define and build master image released to manufacturing.
• Develop and build the in-field procedures, the tools and scripts for installation, and the ongoing maintenance and upgrades.
• Configure Linux OS and hardware to ensure compatibility and performance of applications.
• Work with development teams and customers to improve product security.
• Work with development and purchasing to select and configure server hardware.
• Configure services (apache, database, users, security).
• Package proprietary Vigilent software using standard debian tools.
• Setup package repository servers (reprepro, apt-cacher).
• Develop tools to manage networks of systems (ansible, bcfg2).
• Write scripts to manage multi-tier backups.
REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
• BS or MS in Computer Science.
• 5+ years of professional work experience.
• Expert level Linux system administration.
• Basic networking knowledge (interfaces, routing, traceroute).
• Strong scripting skills in Python and Bash.
• Experience with Debian packages: building packages, deploying packages and package servers.
• Ability to pass background security check, including drug screen.
DESIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
• Experienced with the debugging Linux kernel.
• Experience with debugging open source applications and contributing back to open source projects.
