This is an exceptionally senior role for an engineer with strong key management experience. You will be relied upon for senior level contributions, so the opportunity for impact is great. This company just crossed into profitability and there is no slowdown in sight to the growth for the company.
We are looking for a talented and experienced data security engineer to implement key management APIs based on industry standards such as PKCS #11, OASIS KMIP and Microsoft's MS CAPI to manage the lifecycle of our data security keys as well as 3rd party keys created and consumed by enterprise applications. As a member of a dynamic engineering team, the ideal candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to and influence the design of the APIs, participate in and contribute to technical discussions at standards organizations and be at the forefront of introducing a new product for our company. For an ideal candidate we are willing to consider upgrading the position to that of a Senior Principal Software Engineer.
The overall focus of the R&D group is on competitive market and customer requirements, technology advances, product quality, product cost and time-to-market. Software engineers focus on enhancements to existing products as well as new product development.
Responsibilities:
Specify, design, and implement APIs for data security key life cycle management using standards such as PKCS #11, Microsoft CAPI and OASIS KMIP.
Design code with special attention to versioning, compatibility and correctness.
Characterize and resolve performance issues
Develop unit tests
Work with the system test team to define test plans, troubleshoot and resolve software defects
Perform research of relevant standards (e.g. PKCS #11, OASIS KMIP, MS CAPI) and technologies (such as Service Oriented Architectures (SOA), evolution of processor architectures to support cryptography) and design products that integrate seamlessly into the emerging ecosystems and conform to standards.
Coach and mentor junior engineers in the team.
Requirements:
BSCS required, MSCS desired
8+ years development experience with data security products in the areas of key management, encryption, developing APIs and Software Development Kits (SDKs) libraries with several flavors of language bindings (e.g. Java, C#)
Extensive experience in designing/implementing and debugging software in Java based environment
Prior experience in implementing applications or APIs that use PKCS for key management.
Strong Java, C#, scripting experience
Experience with JCE/JCA, JSSE, OpenSSL and TLS,
Knowledge in Symmetric and Asymmetric Key as well as encryption algorithms
Expert troubleshooting and debugging skills
Knowledge and passion for solid security engineering practices, release processes and project life cycles.
Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written. Must be able to write clear functional specifications and design documents and engage with customers on technical discussions.
Self-directed; requires minimal supervision on work products
Knowledgeable with the regulations such as PCI DSS, HIPAA Hitech and overall technology trends in the areas of data security, privacy and confidentiality
Strong team player. Willingness to proactively interact with the team and achieve results in a dynamic small company environment
Additional Bonus Attributes:
Sockets and SOAP experience is a plus
TCP/IP network access protocols experience
Understanding of SSL, IPSEC, SHA-1,2 algorithms. HMAC, certificates
Symmetric/Asymmetric Key – Differences, when they are used and managing them
