What you will be doing:
This position is contract-based, with possibility to become part-time or full-time. We´re located in Los Altos, CA and would prefer someone local who can work on-site. You will be given specifications by our lead UX/UI designer to transform into accurately detailed comps/specs which will then be handed off to our front-end team to implement. You will be working on the look and feel of jemstep.com, upcoming mobile and iPad app, and several other projects.
You will need to be adept at:
contributing to the overall look and feel of the brand through clean, efficient use of web standards and optimization
developing design concepts, specs and mock-ups based on briefs and creative direction
bringing a low fidelity wireframe to life
applying graphic design principles including layout, typography, and color theory
working with Photoshop/Fireworks, and knowing your way around the rest of the Creative Suite
organizing your design files with properly named and formatted layers
understanding the limitations and possibilities of CSS and web typography and marking up your designs accordingly.
The skills and qualities you have:
3+ years experience designing beautiful websites and/or apps
Design style/sensibilities must be current and/or forward-thinking
Solid understanding of navigation and GUI for maximizing usability.
Knows your way around wireframes and flow documents
Attention to detail that borders on the obsessive
Can work both independently and in a group, without daily management
CSS/HTML development experience a plus
iPhone/iPad/Android app design experience a plus
Have excellent communication skills
Works well under pressure
Enjoys startup environments
Are willing to go the extra mile to do things right
