TITLE: Principal Embedded Engineer/802.11

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Our client is a public company that provides the latest 802.11 technology. They are looking for energetic and enthusiastic senior level software engineers excited about 802.11 wireless networking, network protocols and embedded systems.

Specific Duties include:
Architecting and implementing 802.11 features and extensions in the driver.
Developing drivers and applications for a variety of embedded operating systems and Company chipsets.
Making optimizations for power and memory footprints on the firmware and host drivers/software.
Low level hardware bring-up and debugging of the firmware and drivers.

REQUIRED SKILS:
BS degree and 9 years of experience, an MS degree and 6 years of experience or a PhD and 3 years of experience.
Experience in application and driver software development on one or more embedded operating systems.
An understanding of networking and preferably 802.11 protocols.
Knowledge of the latest Standards based features is essential.
Strong C programming skills necessary.
Must have strong system software experience.
Direct driver and systems level experience with embedded operating systems such as Linux/Android or Windows is required.
Networking driver experience is required, and knowledge about networking concepts is expected.
Understanding of hardware issues, working with hardware engineers with bus and logic analyzers is mandatory.
Must have knowledge of common industry standard buses, with emphasis on SDIO, SPI, PCI and USB.
Must have mastered OS concepts of: Process, DMA engines, interrupts, Interrupt Handling, Global Interrupt Handling.
Must have experience with Timers, Memory Virtualization, Threads, IPC, user space, race conditions and perimeter locking.
Prior experience with ARM and MIPS architecture is required.

DESIRED SKILLS:
Chip bringup experience is highly desirable.
Knowledge on power saving techniques for embedded devices is desired.
Experience with WindowsMobile/CE, Symbian, pSOS, or other real time Oss are desirable.
Experience with ARM platforms, tools and understanding ARM assembly highly desirable.
THUMB modes, usage of profilers, OS/driver porting to ARM desirable.
