The Government Business Unit of Symmetricom is looking for a software development engineer to join our team in Boulder, Colorado.
The successful candidate will:
- Work at the direction of the software lead and / or architect
- Develop Linux device drivers and make modifications to the Linux kernel
- Provide interfaces for controlling and monitoring custom electronic devices
- Write application code for embedded Linux in C++, cross-compiled for the PowerPC
- Be responsible for the creation of an automated build system for multiple products
- Maintain and extend code for existing products
Essential qualifications for this position include:
- Minimum of BSCS/BSEE degree or equivalent experience
- 8+ years of software development experience.
- 5+ years experience writing application level code in C++ in a UNIX or Linux programming environment
- Highly proficient at kernel-level development, debugging and running down hardware issues
- Strong object-oriented design skills
- Experience in cross development using the GNU tool chain.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal relationship skills.
- Experience developing multi-threaded applications.
Desired additional qualifications include:
- MSCS/MSEE degree
- Software architecture design
- Deep knowledge of software build systems and release procedures
- Experience using electronic test equipment such as oscilloscopes, time interval counters and logic analyzers
- Scripting languages, such as Python, Perl, bash, etc.
- Firmware development experience
